New Preschool STEAMology Activity: Magnet Tower

Magnet Tower

 

Ask your child to make a tower by stacking nuts and then washers on top of the magnet. 

This helps your child to learn the science skills of observation and magnetism, as well as the engineering skill of building towers. 

 *To do the preschool STEAM activity, simply ask for it at the Early Learning Center desk. When the activity is completed, return the activity to the desk and receive a sticker.

Water Slide Challenge

September 12, 2016

4:00-5:00 pm

              Velocity, Friction, Gravity oh my...What Goes Up Must Come Down

 Learn the best techniques of building a successful slide any Lego guy would be proud to   ride.  Challenge your friends by building our own water slide and making a  big splash!     

Join us in the Youth Center and be ready to move outside and start building.  In case of rain, the event will be held in the South Story Room.

This program is for kids in 1st-5th grades.

New Preschool STEAM Activity!: Rock Grouping

Rock Grouping 

 

Your child can sort the rocks into two different categories, either by size or color. Place any rocks that fit both categories into the middle circle of the Venn diagram, then place the rocks from each of the categories into their own outside circle. Talk about similarities and differences. 

This activity helps your child learn the math skills of sorting and using Venn diagrams.

Su hijo(a) puede clasificar rocas en dos categorías diferentes: ya sea por tamaño o color. Poner qualquier rocas que se ajustan los dos categorías en el círculo central de diagrama de Venn, luego poner las rocas de cada una de las categorías en su propio círculo exterior. Hablar sobre las similitudes y diferencias.
